Music

Music is  great and fun to listen to. I love music especially metal. Metal is my favorite type of music. It sounds a lot better than rap and hip hop and isn't all computerized. I dislike most rap and hip hop. There is only a few songs i like and i only really like one raper. His name is Slim Shady. Slim Shady is a very good raper and some of his songs are funny but others are sad. My favorite band is Rise Against. They are very good and they are a metal/rock band. I love listening to music. It helps me concentrate and relaxes me.

Barn Burning

Why is it that so many people can be so greedy when they have more than what they need? In the book, “Barn Burning” by William Faulkner, There are two major themes. One of the themes is demand, the other theme which is racism. Both themes are present throughout most of the book. Even though life may be rough, enjoy what you got.

The first theme which is “demand” is shown when everyone is bossing around the black people. The father is always telling the boy to do things for him. He is always trying to make him do this work. Another example is when they are in the court and the black man is getting charged for “burning” the farmer’s barn down. He didn’t even do this but what made the farmer think it was him, was because the night before the black man had said “He say to tell you wood and hay kin burn.” That night the barn burned down and the man had thought it was because of the black man from what he had told him that very night. These series of events lead up to when the justice at the court had demanded he leave at once but was filed with no charges. These are examples regarding to “demand” in this book.

Although the first theme “demand” was important, the other theme racism is not to forget. In this book none of the black people are treated very well. Everyone uses foul, harsh language towards them in which cannot be said. For some odd reason no one seems to like people with different color of skin back in the old days. They always boss them around and talk bad about them. This is shown when in the book the white man says “he was a strange person.” (Person is not the real word put in this short novel) This is shown more than one time in this story. This is a main example of one of the major themes “racism”.

This book shows a lot of symptoms of racism and demand. This was a very exciting book and thrilling to read. I believe that the father was a little too demanding and that the farmer was very racist and mean towards the black man. I thought the author did a tremendous job writing this book. Even though life may be rough, enjoy what you got.

North Carolina

When I was in second grade I visited my grandma who lives in North Carolina. I visited for eleven days. Me and my older brother Kyler both went. We had to go in a plane all by ourselves! It was very scary but all the attendants were very nice and offered us soda and nuts. It was about an hour and a half ride. Time had passed very slowly till we had arrived to the airport! My grandma was waiting for us and right when we walked out the doors she ran up to me and Kyler and gave us a big hug. Then we were off to my grandmas house. She owns two houses, one which is on the beach, and another which isn't. I don't know exactly where her house is that isn't on the beach but it is about an hour away from her beach house. Me and Kyler share a room with all kinds of sea creatures on the walls. Time flew so fast because we were having so much fun. Every morning my grandma would make us a big breakfast, then we were off to the ocean to play, surf, and swim. We did this every day. One day, she took us to a nearby turtle resort were they keep tons of turtles. It was very fun and when we were outside me and my brother were trying to catch these small lizards running around and climbing on a fence that had surrounded the building. These lizards were called blue racers and are known to be one of the fastest species of lizards in the South Eastern part of the US. Visiting my grandma is my favorite time of the year because she is so nice to me and my family. My family is taking us to North Carolina to visit my grandma this summer for a vacation. I hope things will be just as fun this year as it was any of the other times I've visited her!

Food

Do you like food? I LOVE FOOD! It's one of my favorite times of day. Every morning i eat a big breakfast and eat as much as i can for lunch. I don't usually eat that much dinner though but it just all depends on what my mom cooks. My favorite food is pizza. I like cheese and sausage pizza the most. The only pizza i don't like is ones with a lot of vegetables on it or pineapple. I like almost all foods. They make you big and strong although some foods may not be too good for your health. The cheese pizza from the pizzaria in Pewaukee is the best. I love it so much they fill it with sauce and put a lot of cheese on top.

Electronics

I love electronics. Without them the world would be so dull and boring. I own a Xbox 360. It's very entertaining and keeps me from annoying others. I own many games. my favorite game is either Halo 3 or Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. They are very fun and they are first hand shooting games. Me and my two brothers Kyler and Blaine all play it against each other. My little brother always freaks out at me when i dominate him. It's very funny to watch. I also own a T.V. and an I Pod touch. I don't use my I-Pod that much and i only use my T.V. for playing video games, even though i barely play because it is better to go outside and be active.

HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS

Why is Harry Potter always in harm’s way? In the book Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets there are two main themes, one which is danger, and the other which is courage. In the book Harry needs to have both of these to defeat Voldemort, one of the greatest known wizards known! Even though Harry is constantly in trouble, he always finds a way to keep himself alive.

One of the main themes in this book is danger. In this book a very dark, evil wizard named Voldemort is after Harry. When Harry finds Tom riddles diary, he soon figures out that when he writes a question that what he wrote would disappear and the book would right an answer back to him. Harry quotes; “can you tell me about Tom Riddel?” and the book replies “No, but I can show you.” And then it takes Harry back into time to show him what had happened that day with Hagrid and him. Then when Harry finds the secret chamber in the bathroom, he goes down into Tom’s lair and finds out Tom Marvolo Ridde is Lord Voldemort. If you were to unscramble the words it would be “I am Lord Voldemort.” Since Tom could speak to snakes he brought out a giant snake to try to kill harry. Harry defeats the snake and saves Ron’s Sister Jenny and returns back to Hogwarts. This shows that harry is always in danger.

Although the first theme of the book was danger, we must not forget the second theme, courage. Harry Potter must have courage when he is fighting Tom Riddel. Without all his courage he would not be able to have survived through this battle. Harry also needs courage to even try and stop him! Harry is a very courageous young boy. Harry probably wouldn’t have even gone to Hogwarts if he wasn’t so determined and courageous. He would have listened to Dobby when he had told him that Lord Voldemort was back. These examples show that Harry has a lot of courage to have gone to Hogwarts this year and to have fought, and won the battle against Tom Riddle and the snake.

I love the whole Harry Potter series. Harry, (the main character) is just an amazing person. Harry is always in trouble with Lord Voldemort always after him, but he is always careful about things. Although he may get himself involved in more things than he has to he is still a very smart person. J.K. Rowling’s is just a tremendous writer and her Harry Potter series just takes you to a whole new world. Even though Harry is constantly in trouble, he always finds a way to keep himself alive.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

I believe harry potter and the sorcerer’s stone by J.K. Rowling’s is a tragedy. At the beginning of the story harry is living with his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon. Harry spends all his time at home and never gets to do anything fun or go or have friends over. He is mistreated just because his aunt and uncle know he is different. Harry is a wizard but he does not know this yet. Because of the symbolism, and plotline Harry Potter and the sorcerer’s stone by J.K Rowling followed the tragic mode of literature.

This book had much resemblance to showing how it is a tragedy. Like at the beginning of the book, Harry Potter is a very nice, well behaved boy but is treated terribly. Harry is lied to by his aunt and uncle, made fun of by his cousin Dudley, and has never even had a birthday present! This is resemblance to the main character is in a conflict. Before all this had even happened, Harry’s parents had been killed and Harry had survived somehow, with only having a scar on his forehead in the shape of a lightning bolt. This resembles a tragic flaw in the story. The death or death symbolism is at the end of the book when harry kills Voldemort by finding out that if he touches him he burns to ashes and dies. This is in resemblance to death because Voldemort is dead because Harry had killed him, well kind of. Lord Voldemort doesn’t really die he is in the body of a young professor who works at Hogwarts, Even though Lord Voldemorts spirit still exists.

Although the plotline of the mode of literature is important, the characteristics are just as important. Harry Potter is in control. He doesn’t let things get to his head and he doesn’t freak out about things. He’s very calm and keeps his sanity even when he is fighting Voldemort. The purpose is very important as well. I believe that the main purpose of this story is to show that not everyone has a perfect life. Such as in the beginning, when Harry’s parents are dead and he lives with his Aunt and Uncle who are very cruel to him. They even lie to him! Some people may think they have it bad but others probably have it worse.

As you can see this is a tragedy and it follows the plotline perfectly. I thought this was a very well written book showing Harry’s adventures and such. J.K. Rowling’s books are my favorite. They are very interesting and very fun to read. Because of the symbolism, and plotline Harry Potter and the sorcerer’s stone by J.K Rowling followed the tragic mode of literature.
