Thank You Ma'am

Authors note: The author’s purpose for writing this piece is to show you how things might have been different in the person being robbed, rather than the robber’s point of view.
Have you ever thought about what your actions may cause before doing something? In the story “Thank You Ma’am” by Langston Hughes, there is an attempted robbery by a young boy. What would things be like from her prospective of the story? That is a mystery. We would have never known if she hadn’t caught the boy before she was robbed. Although everybody’s prospective of something somewhat matters, the lady getting robbed is who’s really matters.
Although robbery is not only okay but against the law, the young boy did it anyway. In the short story “Thank You Ma’am” the lady who was being attempted to be robbed was most likely thinking, "why in the world would someone want to do this"? She was also probably thinking about her past as she was once a young child to who had tried to snatch money from people. She knew she wasn’t an angel but she could really relate to him because she was once quite like him.
As you can see these details show how things might have been in the person being robbed point of view. Robber is not only okay but it is against the law. If you try to rob someone you must be hurting for a punishment. Heck, if I tried to rob someone, I would be so dead if I was caught, not saying that I would rob anyone or anything. Although everybody’s prospective of something somewhat matters, the lady getting robbed is who’s really matters.

Young boy Harry Potter is attending his first year at Hogwarts School of wizardry. At first he thinks it’s going to be a fun extraordinary experience but soon he finds out that things are much different for him. Soon after he finds out about how his parents truly died and who had killed them. Now he is on a journey to defeat Lord Voldemort and avenge his parents. I think that this would be a good book for those of which love fiction books and mysteries and have a passion for reading.

The Path of the Dead

Authors note: The author's purpose for writing this piece is to show you someone else's thoughts about the story and how things might be different in someone else's prospective.
After reading the story “Dead Man’s Path” I was astonished by the word choice and recognition from the story. I would have never thought the story would have been as exciting as I thought it would be. There was much sophisticated, intelligent writing used by the author Chinua Achebe. I would have never thought the story would have been like it was by looking at the title. I liked how the main character Obi was very ambitious too. Although he was cocky, he still made a good headmaster.

Ponyboy Curtis and Will Knox’s Similarities and Differences

Authors note: The author’s purpose for writing this is to show you the differences and similarities between Ponyboy Curtis and Will Knox.
Have you ever compared the way you are to the way someone else is? Usually, when you compare yourself to someone else, you have both similarities and differences. In the two books, “Guns for General Washington” and “The Outsiders”, the two main characters Ponyboy Curtis and Will Knox have similar relations.  If you read the two novels, you would know exactly what I’m talking about. Although the books are completely different, they still relate to each other.
In ways, Will and Ponyboy have similar traits. They both are the youngest of their groups. Will Knox being the youngest soldier fighting for George Washington, and Ponyboy being the youngest person in the Greasers. Will is very outgoing just like Ponyboy. Will was young, yet determined to battle, and Ponyboy was brave and determined to get revenge on the Socs, but realized they were all human, just like you and me. Both Pony and Will were courageous and brave. Ponyboy never backed down, he always kept going. An example would be like when at the rumble, Pony being the youngest at the rumble, didn’t back down at all, even though he had to be half all the Socs sizes.
Another way Will and Pony are alike is neither of them were leaders. They were both more of followers of their two groups. Ponyboys group is the Greasers and Will is part of the army. Neither are leaders, but they have a great impact on what happens. Will comes up with the idea to deliver supplies to General Washington from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston. Ponyboy is the main reason why Johnny had killed Bob, He ran away and the drunken Socs decided to pick a fight. Johnny had no other choice but to kill the Socs from drowning Ponyboy. These two boys left major impacts on others. This shows how Will Knox and Ponyboy Curtis are alike.
On the other hand, Will and Ponyboy have their differences. One way is that Pony is a dynamic character and Will is a static character. Pony grows tremendously throughout his life, but Will doesn’t. Ponyboy realizes that just because people are Socs, doesn’t mean they’re exactly like their background or reputation, and same with the Greasers. People change throughout life. They learn to grow up and realize what’s right from wrong. He also realizes that the rumble wouldn’t resolve anything. Will is a static character because he stays the same throughout the novel. He’s always loved the army and his dream was to finally join them and to make a difference. He was born a good kid, always wanted to join the army, and accomplished this. Not once did Will back down. The boy could hardly ever even think about quitting. He never gave up, whether it was just a measly puzzle or battling the British. He had a passion and love to help and resolve problems. He still does, and this is why he is a static character. This is also why Ponyboy and Will are different from one another.
As you can see, this essay shows many examples of similarities and differences between the two. No matter what, no one is the same as you. If anything, you’re most likely more different than you are a like from some. Although this is not always true in many cases, it’s a logical guess. Will and Ponyboy are more different then they are alike. Sure they have similarities but honestly, things are much different between them. This is shown because Will is a static character and Pony is a dynamic character. Although the books are completely different, they still relate to each other.

Future for the Greasers

Authors Note: The author's purpose for writing this is to show you what life may be like for the Greaser's later on in the future.
Have you ever thought of what could happen after a story ends? Have you ever had a fortune teller predict your future? I certainly have. In the story “The Outsiders”, by SE Hinton, many events happen which make me wonder, “What would happen next?”  I don’t exactly know what could have or what did happen, but I have a good representation of what might have happened. Before doing something without knowing exactly what’s going to happen, you should make a prediction.
I believe Ponyboy and the rest of the Greasers will part away from each other. They will grow older and realize, “its time I make a decision, remain a kid and misbehave, or become an adult and take responsibility.” I think they will all decide it’s time to grow up. They’ve gone through too much and it’s time for a change. Also, I think they will depart from each other because of all the hysteria going around. First Johnny died, and now Dallas! I believe Ponyboy will go on to finish college and get a job and start a family. Although the Greasers are a family, sometimes you have to do what’s best for yourself. I believe they will part away because of all the mayhem thats gone on with their lives.
As you can see, this is a very logical prediction of what may occur in the future for the Greasers. I mean, Even if the Greasers did break up, the group would just get more members to it to keep the Greasers going. Everything happens for a reason though. Life isn’t always about taking the easiest path; it’s about doing the right thing and doing what’s best for you. Not only will the Greasers change, but so will the Socs. Not everything will always be like it is now for Ponyboy or the rest of the gang. Before doing something without knowing exactly what’s going to happen, you should make a prediction.

The Hardships of the Journey to Boston

Authors Note: The authors purpose is to show you what it was like while going to Boston and show the major conflicts that happened throughout the story.

What does the Revolutionary War mean to you? George Washington once said, “Associate with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for it is better to be alone than in bad company.” This means that it’s better to work alone than with a bad group of people. During the revolutionary war, George Washington had a good fleet of people to acquaint him at battle. During the story, “Guns for General Washington” Will Knox and his brother Henry Knox are trying to transport supplies for war from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston to General Washington. After they get all these supplies, they have to deal with the British and plot an attack on them to win the war and claim the country as theirs.

The climax of the story is when Henry and Will Knox were trying to deliver the supplies to Boston.  Will and Henry had to risk a lot in order to deliver the supplies to General Washington. They fought many obstacles on their voyage to Boston. They went up against soldiers flanking them from everywhere, and blistering storms. Things were not easy for those who travelled with them. Half of them didn’t even have shoes. Many people suffered from the small pox and other sorts of diseases and did not make it. Carrying things through mountains was also difficult. In the end, it was all worth it though.

Another conflict they faced was the British, the war especially. They had to be very precautious about what they were planning on doing. If word hit the British about what was going on, they would have came after us instantly. They were everywhere, the British were always around no matter what you did or what you were doing, the British were there. The British were more prepared and had better supplies yet the lost. I believe this is so because of the determination and leadership by General Washington. Although, after Henry and will arrived they had all the supplies they needed to beat the British. Many people’s lives were lost but in the end it was all worth it. After beating the British, we all celebrated for our new land and country.

The events leading up to this were the British always trying to take over and boss the citizens around. They all agreed it was time for a change, time to say enough. General Washington gathered a fleet of men to fight the British with him. Will and Henry Knox got word of this and did the same. They delivered the goods to Boston to help stop the British from taking their land and bossing them around. This caused us to go to war and fight the British. The main conflict was resolved because they did beat the British and kick them back to where they came from. They delivered the supplies safely and went on to win the war.
